21st Century Digital Dinosaur

“Valuehost is the largest hosting provider in Russia, which has been providing web hosting services since 2000,” says valuehost itself.
And here is an example of practical experience in using the services of this wonderful hosting provider.

I put the password on the mailbox through the valuehost web admin, and I write the same password in Outlook. The password is incorrect. I try in gmail - the same thing. Just in case, I write the password in a text file, copy it alternately to the admin panel and gmail, it doesn’t work.
What was my surprise when it turned out that the reason was that in the valuehost there was a restriction on the password. Moreover, the restriction is not on the minimum, but on the maximum password length, and is 8 characters. If you enter a password, for example, in 9 characters, then valuehost will simply clip it to the first eight, and, of course, will not tell you anything. Since it would never have crossed my mind myself, I turned to the support service, from where I learned about this restriction.

Also through this service, I found out that there is a limit of 10 MB per letter and 2 MB per file in the attachment. Can anyone find this data on the valuehost website?
Here is a fragment of the correspondence:
I: What is the volume of outgoing mail? When sending 9 MB (to various mailboxes), a message appears indicating that the message size limit has been exceeded.
Valuehost : Message size no more than 10 Mb . The size of one attachment is no more than 2 MB.
Me : Since when, the size of one attachment can not exceed 2 MB?
Valuehost : This restriction was introduced specifically, introduced about a year ago, so as not to load the mail server.

This is how the “largest hosting provider in Russia” solves the problem of loading mail servers.
By the way, the general limit on one mailbox is 30MB. Moreover, the user is kindly provided with the choice of volume (what if he wants 1MB?)

On the tariff comparison pageit is written that a backup is being carried out, and even a picture is shown (picture No. 1), upon seeing which a normal user should be scared, and never again return to this page.

However, let's be courageous and try to restore some kind of file.

Judging by Valuehost 2006, Alpha Testing has been going on for 4 years. So do not hope that the valuehost really will back up your files.

What if you still got (in every sense) on such a hoster? Actually, there are two options: change the hosting provider, or transfer mail to Google Apps for Domain. I currently see the second option as more attractive. Moreover, it is free for 50 users, plus IMAP and a convenient web-based interface. Yandex has a similar Yandex.Mail solution for the domain , but, frankly, it is an order of magnitude worse than Google.

The slogan Valuehost says “We offer the best for less!”, And the cheapest rate is 293 p. per month.
Think again: 30 MB per mailbox, 10 MB per letter and 2 per file in the attachment, as well as the lack of backup! It's amazing how a digital dinosaur like Valuehost was able to survive until 2010.
