Amazon at Christmas sold more e-books than paper

Amazon.com , the largest online store, said that one day, for the first time, e-book sales exceeded paper-book sales. It happened December 25, 2009, at Christmas. Since then, the Kindle has officially become the most popular gift in the history of the Amazon.com store.

Why e-books were bought so much precisely on December 25th is understandable. On this day, tens of thousands of happy Christmas gift recipients (Kindle) all went to buy something to read. At the same time, little paper books are sold that day (ordinary people have no time for shopping). However, the specifics do not make this historic achievement less significant.

The Kindle Store has over 390,000 titles, and Amazon controls the lion's share of the US e-book market and has already begun to dictate terms to book publishers about pricing.
