Crocodile - game in association

Dear Habrausers!

I want to present you my startup for playing Crocodile (for those who do not know what it is - see the Wikipedia article or on our website ). In short: A crocodile is a word game built on associations.

My friends and I have been playing Crocodile for a long time. First they played in real life, then they created the VKontakte community. But VKontakte was inconvenient to play, and the game quickly died out. Then I came up with the idea to create a special site dedicated to the Crocodile. Requirements for the site - imprisonment for a specific version of the Crocodile’s rules, a convenient interface for the game and communication between players (without communication, a significant part of the fun is lost). In addition, a simple interface was needed so that players could create games themselves. Exactly a month later the site was made (from idea to launch).

The CodeIgniter framework was chosen as the site engine, as the most convenient and scalable. Writing modules on it is a pleasure. JQuery is responsible for developing the site on the client side. The basis for the user base is the PhpBB3 forum, which has been integrated with CodeIgniter.

The site has already been two months old, during which time it has managed to acquire a small regular audience. Many bugs were also removed, and some changes were made to the rules. For example, one of the players suggested the idea of ​​how to develop them. This idea was put to the vote and everyone liked it. As a result, new types of games (complex and associative) were added. At the request of the players, a chat was introduced. At the moment, about 500 games have been created and guessed by the players.

But the most interesting thing is that with regular players (of course, with those who live nearby and who were able to come), we arranged a meeting in a restaurant. The meeting was interesting, many ideas for developing the site were expressed. We are now implementing these ideas.

At the moment, the main development of the project is on the path to attracting new (adequate) players.
