An interesting bank-client or again about IE6
Today, one of the accountants brought for the installation of another bank-client, at first glance unremarkable. In addition to the presence of CryptoPro (and the corresponding distribution kit), no requirements for the system where it should be installed were specified in the documentation. But after installation, the program refused to work.
It is worth noting that almost all user computers have Windows Xp SP3 installed, as the main browser Firefox 3 (3.5) or IE 8 at the request of the user. Due to the fact that many bank clients use ActiveX, and therefore can only be launched in IE, accounting uses it regardless of preference.
So, the installation was successful, but this miracle refused to work and began to spit all kinds of errors. After several unsuccessful attempts to run it, I decided to dig on a disk with disributivom in one of the folders showed a file with a funny name "How to remove IE 8.0» with the following contents: In addition revealed IE6SP1 installation files. After studying the materials located on the link, it turned out that in addition to directly IE 8, SP3 (also with the possibility of further reinstallation) will also have to be removed. As an experiment, the client bank was installed on a computer with IE 6 and, of course, it worked without problems.
As the saying goes, I resent! And instead of adapting programs to modern browsers, users are provided with instructions for their removal. I'm already used to and calm about bad documentation. I am calm about the programs and services that require IE, but not the programs that require the long-obsolete IE 6.
