A new world record for catching hackers

US intelligence agencies and Egypt conducted a joint operation Phish Phry , which became the largest in the history of the Internet. In total, 100 people were prosecuted in two countries (53 in the USA and 47 in Egypt), which is a new world record for the number of hackers caught at a time.

The target of the special operation was the attackers involved in phishing attacks on American banks. All of them participated in the creation of phishing sites, mailing lists with malicious links, theft and trade in private information, etc. The FBI director said every gangster faces up to 20 years in prison. He added that it was because of these phishers that his wife forbade him to use online banking.

Operation Phish Phry began in 2007, when FBI agents initiated an investigation into the origin of phishing sites, and subsequently all the actions of the intelligence services were carried out in the strictest confidence.
