Online conferences with web developers

Every week we hold online conferences with famous web developers and other famous web workers. I want to present you a small report for September.

    Sergey Chikuyonok

Sergey ChikuyonokMost recently, we held a conference with Sergei Chikuenk ( announcement ) - technical consultant at Artemy Lebedev Studio. There were many interesting questions, to which Sergey gave detailed answers. Here are some of them:

Evgeny Nasyrov : Hello, Sergey! Tell us about the most interesting project in which you participated.
Sergey Chikuyonok : My most interesting and favorite project is Parity98. I remember it not so much with the abundance of various animations for one page (some of which, unfortunately, did not appear on the site), but with its concept: the site in one line. This was the main difficulty - you had to insert blocks into the text line, and even slide them apart smoothly ... ( read whole )

Inko: Some urge people to help get rid of IE6 (upgrading to something new) by showing a line with an appeal and links at the top of the page (for example, ie6update.com ). Sergey, what is your attitude to such initiatives? Is it worth putting on a site, or is it nonsense :-)?
Sergei Chikuyonok : I have nothing against such a line - the method is good and correct, only you need to show this strip no more than 3 times per session, so as not to bother. The main thing is that the site works fine in IE6. Let without any frills and beauty, but the basic functionality and content should be available. What I am really opposed to is ... ( read more )

Waldemar Mozhaikin: Sergey, is the creation of HTML5 sites justified right now? Or should you wait until the old browsers are driven out of the market and only those supporting this technology remain?
Sergei Chikuyonok : I don’t see any reason so far that
    write
, especially considering that it can still change 10 times.

Leonid Nazarov : What do you need (or vice versa do not need) to do for the designer so that the layout designer can make the layout efficiently? What files, descriptions need to be attached?
Sergey Chikuyonok : for designers I can give the following tips:
    1. Make a layout with a width of 1000 pixels, then it will be easier to count percentages for stretching sites.
    2. Break the entire layout into columns of equal width, align the page elements with them. It is desirable that the number of columns divide 100 without a remainder (for example, 2, 4, 5, 10) - then it will be possible to easily align the elements in different blocks on the grid (for example, align the picture in the content with the logo in the header), but this already depends more from the skills of the encoder. I will also write an article on the layout of multi-column sites. ( 6 more tips )

Most of the answers are very voluminous, so I had to save them. Read the entire conference here .

    Damir Khalilov

Damir KhalilovFollowing Sergei, Damir Khalilov, CEO of GreenPR, acted as speaker. Damir answered questions about marketing on social networks and creating a personal brand on the Internet:

Dmitry Zvyagin : What may be the reason for the low popularity of Twitter in Russia, in comparison with other countries and why?
Damir Khalilov : I think that everything is just beginning with us. The crazy growth rate of Russian Twi in recent months confirms this. Of course, VKontakte is unlikely to overtake Twitter, but it will be able to compete with LJ and LI.

Stas gladkov: Hello Damir! Tell me how effective do you think contests are a marketing tool on social networks? What points do you recommend paying attention to when creating contests? How to make the contest viral? How to get traffic from the competition? What examples of successful contests could you give? Thanks
Damir Khalilov : Contests, flash mobs, interactive promotions are very effective SMM tools. As a rule, users are very interested in this type of interaction, since the game mechanism is involved, this is the same game marketing that Anton Popov writes about.
When creating contests, I recommend paying the most attention to ... ( read more )

Dmitry Zvyagin: Is it realistic to use Twitter to get some kind of income in cash? If so, why now no one is using it?
Damir Khalilov : Really. There are three main options for earning:
    1. Promote the services of your company or your own services through Twi. I think everything is clear here - the main thing is the ability to monetize fame.
    2. Sell something through Twi. This can be your product or the product of partners ... ( read whole )

The system serves 200,000 publishers and 70,000,000 users in 24 × 7 mode. Such systems are urgently faced with the issue of scalability, reliability and efficiency.
You can ask Igor questions about designing and developing scalable systems. The conference will be held today at about 15:00 Moscow time on our website.
