David Ridgway on web2asp.net blogs has announced a contest called COOL SNIPPETS . Prize - ReSharper user license .

What is snippet (I don’t know what to call it normally in Russian)? There were already informative articles on this subject - What is Visual Studio .NET snippets? Part one. and Part Two . I use only one way - when developing programs on WPF to create DependencyProperty - propdp (I wrote about this once in my blog). Someone who knows how much code to write for eachDependencyProperty , understands how much easier this snippet makes life easier . But I’ve never thought about any other snippets and never used any more. And since I already have a license for R # , I’m not sorry to talk about this competition;) (in fact, for the participants, on the contrary, it’s more useful to talk about this competition in order to increase my chance of winning, which is lower). The main thing is to share snippets that simplify your development, after, of course, after you submit it to the contest - with the public :).

Competition (translation)

The idea of the competition is simple:

  1. Send an email (in English of course) with your snippet to web2asp@gmail.com and write in a letter why this snippet deserves attention, and why it is needed at all. The subject line should be “Cool Code Snippets”.
  2. Announce that you want or not to remain anonymous (David is going to publish some of the most liked snippets on his blog in the future).
  3. In the future, David is going to hold other contests, so he asks to indicate whether you want to receive information about them.
  4. The competition runs from August 19 to October 19, 2009.

As a result, the letter should look something like this:

Name: Carl Coder
I want to be anonymous: yes / no
Mail me about future competitions: yes / no
Code snippet:
// obviously you can do much better than this
var x = new VeryCoolClass ();
Explanation & Why it's cool:
blah blah blah The

number of licenses for the competition will depend on the number of people participating, for every 100 entries there will be one license. Also David published the following rules:

  1. One entry per person (you cannot send the same snippet several times from different mailboxes).
  2. The code should be yours, and not developed by the company, in general, you should have rights to this code.
  3. Well, of course - the email address must be real and valid.
  4. The license is for personal use only and is not subject to disclosure or transfer.

The winners will be chosen by the judges - Dave's Dev Team. Decisions are not in dispute.
