Lamer's corner (increase in efficiency of the mobile old man Sony Ericsson w810i)
Each nation has some kind of trait that distinguishes it and distinguishes it from others. Of course, nobody likes stereotypes, but nevertheless there is no “smoke without fire”, as the wisdom of the people says. In recent years, I regularly hear that the Germans are famous for their efficiency literally in everything. I emphasize, not by greed, but by efficiency. A few years ago I first visited Germany, and this attitude was repeatedly confirmed by my observations and the words of the Germans themselves. For example, in Dresden there is a church, which during the war suffered very much from the bombing. This church is very old, and the stones became dark brown from time to time, but when it was restored, they collected all more or less suitable fragments of these ancient stones and used them wherever possible. Where there weren’t enough such “native” dark brown pieces of debris, pieces of the same breed were inserted, but processed recently and therefore much lighter. So this restored church stands today like a spotted cow. The German who showed me the city proudly said that this was a very remarkable expression of the vaunted German spirit. A normal German, according to him, before moving on to using something new, will be convinced that he makes the most of the old available to him. That is why in Germany there are surprisingly many very “ancient” German cars. that he makes the most of the old available to him. That is why in Germany there are surprisingly many very “ancient” German cars. that he makes the most of the old available to him. That is why in Germany there are surprisingly many very “ancient” German cars. This year, a German joined me. Either the renewed ties with Germany made themselves felt, or the notorious crisis put pressure on the subconscious, I don’t know what was the matter, but only the German In Me turned on as never before. When I was in America at the beginning of summer, I decided to buy some kind of gadget, for they have a lot of things (damned bourgeois) and prices are reasonable (especially for used and refurbished with a limited warranty). I set aside US $ 250-300 for this matter. I no longer wanted the tools for audio podcasting, because a year earlier a Rode Podcaster USB microphone was purchased in the USA, and a portable ZOOM H2 recorder in Hong Kong. Teasing myself with different pictures and descriptions on the Internet, I identified for myself several areas in which you could move:
A. B \ U or refurbished Iphone 2g (no comment).
B. or: inexpensive unpretentious camera, “sharpened” for publishing videos on the Internet (for experiments in the field of video podcasting).
V. or: MP3 player (listen to podcasts and audio books).
G. or: B \ U or a refurbished device for reading books (because I like to read on trips, but I can’t carry a library with me).
When these areas were identified, I plunged into the study of relevant reviews, ratings and prices, and even managed to make a short list of two or three attractive options for each category, and then German In Me turned on. O_o. And this is how it was.
Being a podcast and constantly communicating with geeks, many of whom are explicit or latent maknatsi, I apparently fell under their influence and first of all began to lick on an iPhone. But the German in me suddenly asked such a direct question:
Do you really NEED it?
When I realized that my inner German could not be fooled, he answered honestly:
No, not needed. I just WANT it.
Yeah! I knew it, ”the German exclaimed triumphantly. - That is, it’s just a whim, a whim, pampering in general, not worth the waste of your pennies.
The German convinced me. “Kaput!” - I said to myself, and deleted the iPhone from my mental list.
Next was a camcorder. By this moment, I not only had several worthy bidders in my mind, but even took a fancy to a specific model and - imagine! - held her in his hands. The German is right there. Again with questions:
Why do you need a camera?
What do you mean why...? I’m almost an Internet activist. Well, there to shoot everything. Publish on the site.
Are you sure?
Uh ...
Do you have a camera with you right now?
Well yes. There is. Lent for a while with Vovka.
Well, experiment for now. Understand that this is yours and you cannot live without it, then you will buy it. Maybe immediately something more decent, but more expensive.
Again there is nothing for the German to object. Aufvidzerzane, camera!
Now I had to make a choice between an electronic reader and an MP 3 player. The German also quickly dissuaded me from the reader. He was helped by the release of the Mobile Review podcast with an overview of Sony's new reader. When I started thinking about a new mp3 player, the German reminded me of my phone. Although he is already a great-grandfather in the market of mobile devices (Sonny Ericsson w810i), but when I bought it, he positioned himself as a device “tuned” for listening to audio in mp3 format. In short, the German again asked a question that made me think: how much percent do I use the capabilities of my phone? That is: what is the efficiency of my phone? A direct question requires an honest answer. The answer was this: 30% will not. Then the Germans and I agreed that I set myself the task of maximizing the efficiency, and only having achieved this, I would allow myself to lick my lips on a new phone.
To date, the following has been done:
1. Reconfigured Internet access (with the help of a more advanced friend), so that the phone stopped “eating up” all the money after each Internet connection.
2. On the phone installed:
- Mobile version of Opera
- Google email client for Gmail.
- set up Google Calendar the possibility of SMS reminders (very satisfied).
- a client for Twitter (“Twibble” was installed first, then switched to “jibjib”).
- A client for Gtalk ot Google (one minus is the gay-girl pink skin in hearts, because the latest release was dedicated to the day of all lovers).
3. I bought a new 4 GB memory card for the phone. Officially announced support for cards with a capacity of up to 2 GB, but from reliable sources I learned that you can put a card on 4 GB. Believed, Bought, Won. Works with a bang.
4. On the laptop I installed ::
- ReadManiac Builder Wizard text converter program, so the phone turned into a reader.
- “MyPhoneExplorer” is a program for synchronizing a phone with a computer, and with some services from Google (the program is free, its functionality caused me a squeal of
screaming) for working with podcasts). I set it up so that all new podcasts that I subscribe to are automatically downloaded to the phone.
Well, that’s probably all. Now I'm going to use the phone in this mode for some time. I have a big request: if I missed something wonderful, through ignorance and computer illiteracy, let me know about it, and I will gladly continue the experiment (games and entertainment should not be offered). The bottom line is that now that I’m planning to buy a new phone or gadget, I’ll be ready to talk with my inner German.
So, the result: the efficiency of my mobile old man soared up. Life has become easier, life has become more fun. I began to understand what I would need from my next phone and ... which is important during the financial crisis, I saved my family budget. By the way, I added a little more to the money saved and took my whole family to Finland for a weekend break. Everyone was happy! :)
