Open screen project fund
Nokia has taken on the active promotion of the Open Screen Project initiative (jointly with Adobe) as part of two projects to support mobile application developers: the Calling All Innovators contest and the Open Screen Project Foundation.
The application for the contest for application developers for Nokia Calling All Innovators phones (“Come on innovators!”, So to speak) has just closed , the winners of which will receive cash prizes (up to $ 30,000) and business offers from Nokia. Over 1,500 applications were submitted to the competition. Finalists in the Flash category must be named before August 17, and winners will be announced at Nokia World in September.
In parallel with these, the Open Screen Project Foundation continues its work. You can read about this initiative, for example, here.. A market development fund totaling $ 10,000,000 offers grants to developers of applications, content and services using Flash technology and working on various devices. More information can be found on the project website.
Both sites are in English, but the competition and fund are open to developers from all over the world.
Both the competition and the foundation reflect Nokia’s commitment to helping developers create cool applications. Almost 40% of all new mobile devices sold in 2008 support Flash Lite technology, so for developers this is a real chance to introduce their application to the global market.
