To backup or not to backup - this is the question
A week ago, paid hosting (VPS), where my blogs are located, was blocked by evil hackers. They did this through a hole in the LXLabs virtual machine control system. Everything fell about 100,000 (!) Sites. However, a week-long down time was not the worst. Worst of all, all the data was lost. And the backups that were part of the subscription were not stored on tape or on a guard disconnected from the network, but on the same servers where the VPSs were. In general, the fun is in full swing. I'm still lucky. Since moving to this hosting in April of this year, I dragged both databases and files through the laptop. I actually recovered from this backup. Posts from April to June pulled from Google Reader. And my friend was dragging his blog directly. Accordingly, all the records for 8 years he lost forever. These are the pies. Why am I all. Having even a paid hosting will be completely useful to make your own backup. At least once a week. Then such surprises can be experienced with the least loss.
By the way, the owner of the company that developed LXLabs committed suicide. It is not known for certain whether the reason for this was the loss of data on 100,000 sites or something else. But the fact remains.
