New Linux kernel version 2.6.30

    A couple of days ago, a new version of the Linux kernel 2.6.30 was released.

    From the new:
    • support for a file system oriented to sequential recording of large amounts of information, NILFS2 (log-structured filesystem)
    • support for high-performance network distributed file system POHMELFS (Parallel Optimized Host Message Exchange Layered File System)
    • file system support for devices with object-oriented data storage EXOFS
    • FS-Cache file system cache support
    • interprocess communication protocol support for servers in the RDS (Reliable Datagram Sockets) cluster
    • Intel's fast boot support (Fastboot) through asynchronous device polling
    • Support for the current specification of the emerging IEEE 802.11w standard
