Read with your fingers. DIY Braille texts

    Have you ever seen a business card suitable for understanding a blind person? What about the brochure? What about the bus schedule at the bus stop?

    HabraHabr - hello!
    transcript in title

    Although I cannot (can not) print brochures, and no one will let me stop with such an initiative, but I wanted to do something to help.

    Did (or rather did, my colleague helped me in the most active way). I bring to your attention Braille.Ru .

    Now it is being finalized, including in terms of layout, which is now completed in a technical form.

    What the converter can do now:
    1. in the Russian part - convert Cyrillic and Latin letters, numbers and some symbols;
    2. in English, similarly, but without the Cyrillic alphabet;
    3. while the test is in progress, the character limit is limited only by the capabilities of the virtual server, in the future it will be shrunk up to 1000 characters, which is more than enough for a business card or for a brochure;
    4. with the exception of some problems, the Braille font is visible in all popular browsers ( there are problems in Windows Opera );

    What is in the plans:
    1. reverse conversion;
    2. support for an increasing number of languages;
    3. simple API.

    I believe that the availability of such a service in Runet will help printing houses offer their services for adapting the same business cards for blind people. Indeed, for this there is no need to buy specialized equipment. Quite acceptable quality can be achieved with a conventional thermal printer.
