John Fremlin released, in his opinion, the fastest mini web server for dynamic content. The teepeedee2 server is entirely written in Common Lisp (CL), a dialect of LISP, the second oldest high-level programming language. Fremlin talked about his development last year, long before the release, at the Tokyo Linux Users Group meeting, where he also showed the results of performance measurements ( PDF ), which demonstrate that “functional languages can surpass C”.
