Installing Google desktop on 64-bit Vista
There is no version of Google desktop for 64-bit Windows. However, you can still install it, as the official help section says: Advanced Options: Compatibility with 64-bit Windows . To do this, install from the command line as follows:
GoogleDesktopSetup.exe / force
Google warns that not everything will work. So far, only the standard weather gadget does not work for me. Everything else behaves normally, although I haven’t really experienced search and indexing myself yet.
Does anyone know if there are any pitfalls and disadvantages of this installation method?
