2 GHz Atom

With the new Atom Z550 processor announced on Wednesday at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, Intel was able to overcome the 2 GHz milestone.

The chip is equipped with 512 KB of cache in the second level, operates at a frequency of the system bus 533 MG and supports hypertreading technology. Atom Z550 also supports Intel Burst Performance technology, which dynamically controls the core clock speed depending on current needs.

Most importantly, the increase in performance did not affect energy consumption. Atom Z550 it is all the same 3 watts.

Together with the Atom Z550, Intel also announced another chip - the Z515, operating at a frequency of 1.2 GHz.

Prices of new processors have not yet been announced.
