Fashion phone - race for fashion or need ?!

On one interesting resource, I occasionally got an interesting and, one might say, vintage telephone.

Since I have been working in a cellular company for about 5 years, I tried and changed a lot of different phones (currently I have 5800). So this very gift at the moment meets my ideas about the perfect phone almost 100%.
In the course of life, work and use of mobile communications, the question arose:
Do the average user really need the numerous functions provided by manufacturers of smartphones and communicators ?!

I began to analyze using my example how much I use the capabilities of my smartphone, how much I need it. I gave him 15,000 rubles to NG for him, now he costs even more. Think about it - this is the cost of an average laptop !!! At the same time, you can surf the net fully only in places with Wi-Fi and then with a lot of reservations, as the browser does not always work correctly with "heavy" sites, and the battery runs out quickly in this mode. The cost of communicators on VinMobile is over the top, and even more - for 20-25 thousand rubles. How is such a cost of devices formed?

What I found after 3 months of use is that I really just call, send SMS and use the alarm clock (at the service rate I can not limit myself to the use of additional services). Yes, I also listen to music on the way to / from work. I play a couple of "casual" games when there is absolutely nothing to do, and the computer is busy. In the first month or two I really used the device to the “fullest extent”, rolled it in, and now - I’m tired of it, I didn’t give a damn about most of the opportunities provided by it and I don’t understand why I spent so much money on it.
Even earlier - the same story was with the Nokia N800 tablet.

Thanks ilembitovas a reminder - another inconvenience that kills in all-in-one devices - the service life of one charge is significantly reduced when using at least a third of the device’s functions. There is a risk of being left without a connection, and without the Internet, and without GPS (you can continue by yourself).

I’m going to the subway ... The overwhelming majority of smart phones are among students and schoolchildren.
Those. the student earns money, saves from scholarships, takes, takes on credit, finally.
He puts a sim card with the lowest tariff on the phone without a subscriber. boards and begins to save every penny, but - in his pocket a small designer miracle, used as a player - this is the maximum.

For myself, I have already made a decision: maybe they will call me a geek, a “retrograde” and some other way, but I sell my smartphone, add a little money and buy a mediocre laptop.
For calls - a telephone, for music - a player with support for all common formats. For the Internet - a laptop with a usb modem and Wi-Fi. Based on the results of this experiment, I’m going to write a report here, how much more comfortable, uncomfortable I began to live with the transition to such a separation of devices around me, by function.

And what do you think about this, how often do you use the non-telephone functions of your phone / communicator / smartphone, and how much do you consider the price of your “communications tool” justified?

All names of manufacturers, links to sites, etc. are given to describe my personal situation that led to the question, they are not advertisements and can be easily replaced by similar ones that are similar in meaning. Those. instead of Nokia you can write HTC, Samsung, Palm etc. This is post-reflection and post-discussion, not a holivar.

    Thanks for attention.

UPD: Pernes in "smartphones and communicators."
Alkatel OT 700 patient showed himself as a peppy old man, prone to spontaneous reboot when entering the phone book.
On Saturday, if they give you a salary, I’ll go to Savelovsky market and choose a “dialer” for the experiment, which
I’ll replace my Nokia 5800 smartphone for a month. With the purchase of the device I’ll start a month without a “smart”, I will unsubscribe daily (if possible) on Twitter .
In a month - I will compile the report and publish on Habré. Thank you all for your support and interesting discussions.
