The University of Birmingham is the first university in the world to offer a college degree in social media . From the next academic year, this discipline will be taught there as part of a 12-month course.

They will study how ordinary people use Facebook and twitter and how to use these tools in marketing and journalism, because knowledge of social media is mandatory in these areas.
