Comet Hale-Bopp
Exactly 20 years ago, the bright comet Hale-Bopp was visible in the sky. This is probably the last comet that passers-by noticed in the sky themselves, without media handouts. Subsequent comets were no longer so bright, they are so easy not to notice. I noticed several times how in the evenings passers-by pointed to each other at unusual things in the sky.

This photo was taken with a Kodak Gold 400 film on a Zenit camera. The exposure was 10 minutes. I manually guided the comet's core. Although visually, comets are motionless (do not believe the cartoons that they rush through the sky like meteors) in 10 minutes the stars turned out to be blurred.
