"What was it?" or "People, do not use simple passwords"

I think everyone has already seen the story with the WebMan user . In the afternoon, we were sure that this comrade independently registered at the time a bunch of virtuals, pumped them and began to use them for their own selfish purposes. So, we were wrong.

At the end of the working day, after several hours of investigations, it turned out that the vast majority of the discovered virtuals (of which, by the way, turned out to be at least one and a half hundred) were actually not virtuals, but ordinary users who were only to blame for the fact that Protected your account with an excessively simple password (123456, qwerty, etc.). All (well, or almost all) of these accounts are now in quarantine and will be unblocked only upon request from the true owner to the address support@habrahabr.ru. In response to the request, we change the password on the account and send the owner a notification letter in which we ask to change the password. After this procedure, the habrayuzer can use the account as usual. This is somewhat inconvenient, for which we apologize, but otherwise nothing. Your safety is more important to us.

In connection with all this, we ask you all not to use simple passwords , since in this case we will not be able to guarantee the security of your account. Now there is protection against password guessing on Habré, so brute force will not work, but nobody will be safe from reinsuring.

Thank you all for your understanding and once again we apologize to those who temporarily lost access to their account.
