Robot control over the Internet

The idea of creating a site for controlling robots via the Internet. That is, the site you can go to, register and join the queue for managing the robot you have chosen. While standing in line you can chat, swear, get acquainted and so on. You can pay to advance in the queue, say 50 people ahead, you can sell a place in the queue or exchange it, for example for an invite to a hub :). In addition, you can watch online video “Through the eyes of a robot”. That is, look at how others manage.

When it comes to you, enjoy operating the robot. To be interesting, there should be a lot of robots (within reasonable limits) and different ones. There are friends from the institute involved in the development of microrobots. I think they will be interested. I know a technical school, which is engaged in the assembly of cute simple robots. Also, to raise interest, robots should be located in interesting places, for example, in some secret museum or in someone’s apartment (such as “Behind the Glass” :)). You can hold campaigns, for example, "Control a robot in Red Square!" Or on the Great Wall of China. The only difficult thing will be technically.

From the finished, I found a dessert for one guy controlling robots via the Internet. Implemented through 2 servers, ActionScript and perl. One server for management, another for FrontFace site. For broadcasting, the form will need, I think, to fasten even more IP-cameras. There are still developments of the Bauman Institute, but they are more focused on the scientific component than on entertainment.

The site will be interesting primarily as a curiosity. That is, the first version of the site, even with one half dead robot, will cause great public interest. One article on the news site, and preferably on television, will have to be dismissed from the people. Further, interest can be maintained, as described above, by expanding the assortment of robots, various promotions, fighting robots, in the end (there are a lot of ideas on this subject).

The project is focused not only on Russia, but also on the West (did not find analogues).

    Problems:
    • To control the robot in real time, you need a fairly fast feedback through video. That is, the user with a modem or pinched unlimited on the site the path is ordered.
    • The project is quite high-tech and complex. Similar developments are already underway, but it is not known whether anyone will share their work?

    Your opinion is interesting.
