Today, 08.08.2008, at 8:08 pm Beijing time, the opening ceremony of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing began. The whole world and 16,000 athletes have been preparing for this grand event for a long time. In partnership with the Russian Olympic Committee, we launched the Team 2008 project, the official online representation of our team in Beijing. The site www.komanda2008.ru is a single online information resource for fans, athletes and the media. The project is completely built on Google services:
The project enables all Russians to be closer to their team at the Beijing Olympics: you can post video stories on the Youtube channel and messages on the site in support of our team. All athletes are unanimous in how important it is to feel that the whole country is rooting for you! Your messages will be posted at the headquarters of the team in the Olympic Village. We hope that you will also take part and support our team!

- iGoogle gadget - helps you keep track of timetables, medal counts and news on your personalized Google page
- Google Maps - shows the location of sports facilities, 3D images of stadiums, the schedule, results and distribution of medals by country
- Youtube - serves as a platform for video material of fans, interviews with athletes and stories from Beijing
- Googl e news - give a full news review of the Olympics
- Picasa - serves as an archiver of photo information about our team in Moscow and China
