At five in the morning on Monday, 109 hours before the start of iPhone sales in the United States, Greg Packer, 43, armed with a folding chair and a portable fridge with food and drinks, lined up for the “glass cube,” Apple’s flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York (pictured is a store at dusk). Packer, a road worker from Huntington, New York, is a professional “first line-up”, more than 100 times in the line-up at high-profile events and meetings with celebrities. Following Packer, thousands of people lined up from Ocean to Ocean across the line at Apple and AT&T stores.
