About the features of Windows 7

Microsoft's next version of the OS, Windows 7, will be based on a modified Windows Vista kernel, rather than the new MinWin mini-kernel. This was recently announced by the head of the Windows development department, Steven Sinofsky. He previously mentioned that in the new OS there will be a whole bunch of new functions (who would doubt it). Just a few hours ago, this (during All Things Digital Live) was graphically confirmed by Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.

The main new feature of Windows 7 (and the reason for the last presentation) is the implementation of support for multi-touch touch screens, which was first demonstrated by Microsoft in their Surface Table. During the presentation, Microsoft representatives showed how it is possible, using multi-touch, to play the digital piano, work with Live Maps, Virtual Earth cards, as well as easily move the icons by the boys and change the size of photos.

Redmond, however, said that the multi-touch features shown were by no means the “finale." There is at least another 18 months left until the benefit of Windows 7, so everything can be redrawn and redone.
