Apple Store Online

On April 17, 2008, in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Apple published patent applications called Enhancing Online Shopping Atmosphere.

The patent generally refers to improving the user experience in Apple’s online stores in the future. Although Apple points out the obvious advantages of buying online, such as, for example, constantly open 24/7, a quick convenient search, and, of course, the ability to shop while staying at home. However, Apple admits that it will take them a long time to get closer to how this happens in the real world. The patent indicates that the user feels in an online store in complete isolation from the rest of the world. Because of this, the customer receives less positive emotions and therefore makes fewer purchases than if he were in a real store.

One of the latest trends in the Second Life network, a 3-D virtual world created by its inhabitants. After opening to the public in 2003, Second Life grew at an incredible rate, and today millions of people from around the world live there. There are also opened virtual offices of many companies including Apple.

    Apple in second life

Judging by the description of the invention and the attached illustrations, Apple conceived no less than its own version of the virtual world, like the well-known network “life simulator” Second Life - three-dimensional interiors, day and night change and the opportunity to chat with other virtual customers who went to purchase at Apple Store Onine. An interesting point - ways to revive the atmosphere in a virtual store of a company are depicted by the example of a certain Alice, which vividly refers to Carroll books and the very first game for Apple Macintosh.

Virtualization of the Apple Store Online (so far on paper in the form of an unregistered invention) is actually another striking example of the fact that nothing is new under the moon: in the mid-nineties, Apple managed to join the emerging boom in Internet services by launching the failed eWorld project (details - on Wikipedia). And the Apple Store has been around for a long time in the digital world of Second Life.
