Solving a problem with Ubuntu Hardy (8.04, beta) and Photoshop CS2

Recently updated Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10) to beta Hardy Heron (8.04). After that, working for wine Photoshop CS2 fell off (by the way, it is now installed without any “crutches” out of the box). I will save you time and share the recipe.

Symptoms: When we try to start Photoshop, we get the error: “An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application. ". Actually, the above reinstall does not help in any way.

Remedy: Open the console. and write:

    #sudo sysctl -w vm.mmap_min_addr = 0

Now, without any reboots or shamanism, we start Photoshop as usual and enjoy it. This medicine is effective until the system reboots.

UPD: Mr. 3al added some explanation to the above directive. For which he respect, respect and plus in karma.
Disables mmap protection (possible errors in memory allocation in future kernel versions). Protection is not relevant on the desktop (a loophole for rootkits is theoretically possible, but as long as it appears and while it starts to be used, Photoshop CS 4 will work under the vine).
