PayPal will block “dangerous” browsers, including Safari and old IE

Payment system PayPal plans to block access to its financial services using browsers that do not support the technology of automatic blocking of fake sites, and also do not support EV SSL certificates . Safari can also be included in the list of prohibited ones, where support for EV SSL is not planned yet.

PayPal can be understood, because it is one of the main goals for phishing. According to representatives of the payment system, if you allow browsers without anti-phishing technology, then this is equivalent to if car manufacturers allowed users to buy cars without seat belts. Allowing such "crazy" users to safely go on their site, PayPal, in fact, fertilizes the ground for phishers.

At the first stage, users with unsafe browsers will receive warnings, and in the near future some of the browsers are planned to be completely prohibited.

Perhaps the example of PayPal will soon be followed by banks and other financial services, which traditionally suffer from phishing. According to Gartner statistics, last year, 3.6 million financial services customers who lost a total of $ 3.2 billion were victims of such frauds.
