Given: Cisco Catalyst 4503 switch with a multi-port optical module that supports GBICs.
Not given: native tsiskovsky GBIC WS-G5486 (you will not find them in Moscow now and, besides, they are expensive).
Task: to find a module from another manufacturer that would work with a catalist.
I heard that 3Com has the corresponding modules, Allied Telesyn and D-Link, but they told me that they might not be suitable. I would not want to spend money on 8 pieces of iron, which then have nowhere to put.

UPD: As it turned out , there are hidden commands for iOS that allow you to install any module that is compatible physically. But, in some cases, it is for the Catalist 4500 that IOS SG is required.
