Solving problems with the typographic layout of Ilya Birman
A small investigation revealed that there are a number of programs (these include, for example, QIP Infinum and mKey), which, when launched, shamelessly ignore the lack of a “US” layout for the English language, and connect it by accessing the appropriate library (kbdus.dll in the system32 system directory). Their developers, apparently, decided that the standard layout for the English language is installed on all windows-machines.
It is treated quite simply: first, be sure to turn off System File Protection (in Windows XP, you can use the free XP Tweaker utility for these purposes) Then we unload all the extra programs that can affect the situation (the same QIP Infinum, for example). Now, using the control panel, delete the spurious layout. We go to the system32 system directory and replace kbdus.dll with the IBTL-ENG.dll file from the same directory (the last file is the English typographical layout of Birman), without forgetting to make a backup. Then we select the US standard layout for English. Reboot and re-enable System File Protection.
Everything, the problem is solved. It is worth adding that all of the above applies equally to those users who prefer the typography layout of Ilya Birman with their own hands (for example, using the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator ).
For the first post on Habré, please do not beat much: I could have made a mistake, for example, with the design, so I apologize in advance.
