Friday was a historic day for many fans of the young Englishman with a scar in the form of a lightning on his forehead: today one of the seven copies of JK Rowling's
Bard Bead Tales went under the hammer at Sotheby's auction . A hand-written and illustrated book in a leather cover encrusted with silver patterns sold for no less than £ 1,950,000, or $ 4,000,000. The
buyer was none other than Amazon.com.
Rowling's proceeds from the book will go to charity through her Children's Voice foundation. How Amazon will manage its purchase is still unknown. So far, the company plans to arrange a tour of US schools and libraries.
