A patch for Vista has appeared on the web

Not so long ago, the news ran through us that Microsoft might soon release at least a beta version of the service pack for Vista. And it kind of happened. Nearly. Yesterday, the web appeared information about the Vista Compatibility and Reliability Pack, intended for testers.
Among the improvements in this service pack were found improved compatibility with various drivers for video cards, optimizing the process of copying folders with a large amount of files and data, increasing reliability when upgrading from XP to Vista, improving the performance of Vista Memory Manager and a couple of nice patches. Download Vista Compatibility and Reliability Pack (for 32-bit and 64-bit versions) and see the list of edits here .
Just keep in mind that this is by no means the final release of the service pack and you will install it on your system (if you need it, of course) solely at your own peril and risk. But even the test version of Vista Compatibility and Reliability Pack suggests that the release of SP1 is clearly around the corner.
