Google acquires ImageAmerica to develop its mapping services
Google announced the acquisition of ImageAmerica , a high-resolution camera company for taking aerial photographs.
ImageAmerica previously provided photos for Google Earth and Google Maps , including high-resolution black and white photographs of New Orleans after Katrina hit in 2005.
Google Maps and Google Earth Project Manager Stephen Chau said Google is happy that ImageAmerica technologies will help the company’s mapping services in the future.
The amount of the acquisition remained unnamed.
