    Three brave
    Hellgate: London is the debut project of Flagship Studios. At this point, one could begin to get nervous and exude skepticism if Bill Roper, one of the fathers of the original Diablo, was not at the head of the office. It is with Diablo that Hellgate is constantly compared, although evaluating the upcoming game from the screenshots does not lead to anything like this. On the contrary: in the pictures we see a classic first-person shooter, where our hero in urban scenery is fighting against some fiends of hell.
    In fact, the shell in Hellgate is nowhere deceiving. Before us is a role-playing game in the style of Diablo. At least two-thirds. As we know at the moment, the heroes of three classes will fight against the demon hordes landing on Earth. The first is the Templars. These are harsh guys in high-tech armor, with equal ease wielding gasoline guns, pump action guns and God's grace (in the form of healing and protective auras). The Templar’s ​​path is not easy, but also not difficult.
    The second in the battle with the ghouls who settled in the British capital (no, we are not talking about Berezovsky!), The Kabbalist enters. A hero of this class is capable of all kinds of magical things, such as turning demons into other demons, turning himself into demons or temporary invisibility.
    Finally, the third type of freedom fighter in London is the Hunter. It is thanks to him that, probably, completely uncompromising shooter fans who cannot endure role-playing games will be able to play in Hellgate. The fact is that for the sake of the Hunter, the developers changed the rules of the game - having gone hunting, this hero can count not only on the indices of his skills, but also on banal dexterity and accuracy. Playing as a Hunter, a gamer will see how much Hellgate is able to mimic an action movie with sabotage elements.

    Big Ben's fall
    The appearance of demons in the British capital is explained by developers with incredible grace and wit. Exactly five years from today, a portal from Hell will open over London (and possibly even over Big Ben itself!), From where demons will come out in orderly rows to the sounds of fascist marches and tom-canes of cannibal tribes. After a short battle with people, uninvited guests will turn into the masters of the Earth, and the remains of the human race will be forced to exist in dungeons, catacombs (thanks to the Romans for their construction for the glory of the English people!) And the metro.
    Fortunately, among the people there are brave men who were not afraid to put together an order of resistance to the hellish yoke. Of course, the gamer is automatically assigned to the battle group of these new crusaders - with all the responsibilities that follow.

    So, in the yard - 2032. The waters of the Thames have dried up, in the Ruined Tower hosted by "animals" - mutant creatures created by demons to protect their infernal law and order. Demons themselves are the pinnacle of the hierarchical pyramid of aliens and rarely appear on the streets of London. Unless, if some detachment of the Templars, Hunters and Kabbalists really come closer to their main goal - closing the portal between the Earth and the underworld. On the remaining days, the new masters of the planet lazily bliss, preferring that the same “animals”, energy beings — the Ghosts and the living dead, deal with unwanted people. Fortunately, after each skirmish, the latter becomes more and more.

    Play, play and play ...
    The main concern of Flagship Studios, after the daunting task of turning a shooter into Diablo, is the implementation of the insidious plan to increase the playability of Hellgate. Ideally - to infinity. This difficult task has a dual solution: on the one hand, for the solo mode, on the other, for multiplayer.
    With multiplayer, everything is simple. For the most part, it will be designed for cooperative cooperation between players against monsters, although the elements of duel practice and the beginnings of mass wall-to-wall massacres will be left for especially violent ones. Most likely, the developers will not deny themselves the pleasure of tickling the nerves of some players by introducing a game mode similar to Hardcore from Diablo 2 (the death of the hero will forever block the player’s account). And of course the developers will not refuse the system of two corridors: for ordinary citizens and those who are not greedy to spend ten bucks a month on an account. Money guys will be rewarded with numerous bonuses, which greatly simplify life among the Anglo-demons. Namely: round-the-clock technical support on the Web and by phone, 12 characters in one hand (they will give only 3 for free), 40 items in the “chests” (twice as many as the “common people”), access to game servers out of turn, if any, the right to transfer characters from one server to another, unique weapons, armor and other items that can be sent to other “elite” users by local mail, the right to board the train, delivering the player to the inaccessible corners of London, the opportunity to become an officer in the guild, as well as the right to purchase, own and enter their own buildings or guild premises (ordinary players can be members of guilds s, but they are not available real estate transactions, and, moreover, they can not enter buildings), additional game modes, inaccessible ordinary people, a fresh batch of new content - the monsters, items, game modes ... In general, there is much to ponder. At least over how to find $ 10 a month.

    They decided to stretch the joy of solo passage in Flagship Studios using a random number generator. The Diablo-tested focus has been developed at Hellgate, it seems, to the limit.

    About the technological basis of Hellgate is not known as much as we would like. It is clear that a sufficiently powerful role-playing system of parameters, skills and abilities will be present in the game, the choice of which for the gamer will be almost unlimited. Character and demon models will be fully interactive. The structure of the model will be divided into sections (foot / elbow / shoulder / thigh / torso). Each section has its own collection of objects. When a gamer puts on a new item, the game replaces one section with another, referring to its database. The color component of the subject will denote its properties and quality.
    Hellgate's system requirements today seem pretty reasonable. According to Bill Roper, the test version works very well on a Dell 2.0GHz laptop, 2GB RAM, GeForce 7800 Go in a resolution of 1680x1050 with maximum settings.
