Deutsche Telekom invests competitor Skype
Earlier it was reported that Intel will comprehensively support the "Skype killer" - the company Jajah . Today, Jajah announced that they have another investor - Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile).
Initially, Intel reported the investment news, while Deutsche Telekom kept this information secret until today. Deutsche Telekom's investment in Jajah is the first of its kind, before which no telecommunications company has invested in VoIP startups. Jajah plans to use this money to further market and further develop its business opportunities.
In addition to financial support, the transaction provides additional opportunities for the company. This deal will enable Jajah to develop in the Asian and Latin American markets and lower call prices, on the basis that Deutsche Telekom is the primary provider of services in the telecommunications market, primarily in Germany. An early deal with Intel provided Jajah with access to Intel product sellers, OEMs and developers, and Intel's vast amount of VoIP patents.
CEO Trevor Healy says Deutsche Telekom Jajah is an interesting investment because their service does not use existing telephone connections to connect their subscribers. Also in March, Jajah announced that their base already has 2 million users, and Healy expects it to grow to 5 million by the end of the year. Currently, 40% of calls handled by Jajah pass through the United States, while the remaining 60% are international.
