Does eBay change its strategy in China?

The Wall Street Journal , citing an anonymous source, reports that eBay plans to close the Chinese version of the eBay.com auction. In exchange, the company plans to open a new site - in collaboration with the Chinese Tom Online Inc.

It is estimated that eBay will own only 49% of the new venture. A source close to the talks said the deal would be officially announced this week. Representatives of eBay declined to comment on the rumors.
