Web Science Recognized by the Knowledge Industry
Assessing the impact of the Internet on the life of modern man, researchers from the United States and Great Britain decided to study web science as a separate branch of knowledge. From now on, web science will be studied along with computer science, information technology and other areas of human knowledge.
Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, together with university staff from Southampton, will take part in a program for the study of web science. The campaign is led by a leading MIT researcher, professor at the University of Southampton, and Tim Berners-Lee, director of the W3C consortium.
Web science, according to program participants, goes beyond the traditional doctrine of computer technology. It differs from computer science primarily in that it develops not only in technical, but also in social areas, writes NY Times .
