North-West Telecom has completed the construction of the Vologda-Kotlas-Syktyvkar fiber-optic communication line (FOCL), Prime-TASS reports . FOCL passes through the territory of the Republic of Komi, Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions. The length of the new digital communication line is more than 1000 km: 598 km along the territory of the Vologda Oblast, 200 km along the territory of the Arkhangelsk and 216 km along the territory of the Komi Republic.
It is reported that in total NWT invested about 300 million rubles in the construction of this section in 2005-2006 ... By building the line, the company expects to improve the quality of intrazonal and local telephone communications in the northern regions of the North-West Federal District, as well as provide the residents of the region with the possibility of broadband access to Internet by ADSL technology.
FOCL “Vologda-Kotlas-Syktyvkar” is part of the fiber-optic infrastructure for the creation of a unified interregional multiservice network / MCC / OJSC North-West Telecom, combining the central node of the MCC in St. Petersburg with regional nodes of the MCC in all regional centers of the North-West .
