OCZ RevoDrive - NVMe SSD with a speed of 2.4 GB / s

Solid State Drive technology is gradually evolving. The volume of drives increases, cost, $ / GB is gradually reduced, and the reliability of such devices increases. At CES 2016, several manufacturers showed the latest achievements in this area. OCZ Technology, part of the Toshiba Group Company, showed at this exhibition a new drive model - the RevoDrive 400 NVMe PCI Express SSD.

The performance of the device is quite large. So, OCZ used NVMe technology to improve read / write performance. The new drive uses the X4 PCI Express interface, through which the SSD is connected to the motherboard.

OCZ does not provide particularly much development data. Nevertheless, it became known that a Toshiba IP controller with support for the NVMe 1.1b specification is used here. The new device models are called Trion 150 and RevoDrive 400.

The Trion 150 drive will be available in various versions, including models of 120, 240, 480 and 960 GB. The read and write speeds of this model will reach 550 and 530 MB / s, respectively. The SSD uses Toshiba's 15 nm TLC NAND flash memory and up to 190 MB / s write speed without caching.

The RevoDrive 400 also uses Toshiba 15nm flash memory, but a different type - MLC NAND. Thanks to this, the performance of the device is very interesting - up to 2.4 GB / s in read mode and 1.5 GB / s in write mode. Performance is also at an altitude of 210,000 and 140,000 IOPS.

The manufacturer will release the RevoDrive 400 in several variations, ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB. The drives will be sold already this quarter, but the cost is still unknown.
