Replacing superglue: glue hard to bond with Bondic

    Today I would like to tell you about an interesting product of Canadian origin. This is an adhesive called Bondic. True Bondic is not a simple adhesive, but light-cured. When I was offered to test it, a bunch of little things had just accumulated in my house for gluing. Something new is always interesting, but here it is also necessary in practice. Without hesitation, I agreed.

    How it works

    It works very simply. Bondic consists of two parts: a tube with liquid plastic and an ultraviolet (hereinafter - UV) lamp. You can use liquid plastic, like ordinary glue, with the only difference being that it does not harden until you shine a UV lamp on it.

    Try

    Initially, I wanted to seal: cracked org.glass on my desk, stick the baseboard to the front door, fix the Ikea lamp. I also thought that I would try to make a hook out of it for attaching to the wall, but subsequently abandoned this idea (at the first cursory acquaintance I saw that one of the applications was exactly the same as it turned out to be wrong). Then the fantasy broke out, experiments began, comparisons. In general, the process has begun. Actually about it below.

    Baseboard skirting

    When we changed the front door, I decided not to bother with the new baseboards and left the old ones. Unfortunately, I didn’t figure out how they were attached there before (there’s nowhere to screw a self-tapping screw because there is metal behind the skirting board), and put them just butt-on, fixing it with double-sided tape. Double-sided tape is an unreliable thing, and by itself the baseboard began to fly out periodically. For some reason, I decided that I didn’t want to mess with glue there, but when Bondic appeared, I decided to try it. As a result, at the junction of skirting boards for a week everything has been holding just fine. It was a test drive of Bondika in a place that is "not a pity."

    Before. Skirting back

    After. Skirting board holds

    Cracked org.Glass

    It so happened that I am a little obsessed with more natural products, things, fabrics, etc. Therefore, when the question arose of buying a corner table for work at home, I decided to look for something from the tree. There was nothing adequate in terms of price / quality. I had to make a table myself, which a friend helped me with. They made the table, put organic glass on top, but it was bad, while a part of the circle was sawed with a jigsaw, a crack started. Taped with superglue, lasted half a year somewhere.

    And now, thanks to the occasion, I have Bondic in my hands and a crack on the organic glass. Gently lubricate the joints of the organic glass, fix the level so that there is no nut, remove the excess glue that came out and the candle cracked with a lamp. Bondik hardens successfully, hands do not stick, organic glass holds! I did not test it under load, but at least it does not fall under its weight. Profit! So that we still stick ...

    Yeah, ikeevsky lamp

    Ikeevskaya lamp is fixed upside down, and the design is such that the base and base are separate. There is a risk of a fall. It will not fall far (the wire will not give), but here the LED bulb can break. Sorry.
    That's how it fastens

    I decided to strengthen. In principle, it was clear that Bondic is not an assistant here (you can’t directly shine with a lamp), but I decided to try it. As a result, the plastic hardened, but not enough. The base from the base all the same departed with due effort. Here, traditional glue is more suitable.

    Advantages

    The very principle of work. As a result, an abundance of use cases;
    Handles where simple glue is inconvenient to use;
    Cool appearance;
    The glue is not sticky. You can easily remove the excess.

    disadvantages

    There is no link to detailed instructions on the box. Trendy qr code only;
    It is not immediately clear how to spread the material. First, I unscrewed the cap directly with the “needle”;
    I want the tube to be stable on the back. To spread, put and took the lamp;
    It is unclear how much plastic remains, because the tube is not transparent.

    Is Bondic toxic?

    In the office at my colleague brought some strange teapot. On the second day of operation, it safely broke. The brewing tank flew off from the pin that held it. I thought maybe Bondic would help here too. However, the question arose with toxicity. I looked in the descriptions. Amazon loudly claims to be “100% non toxic.” This is not a statement for me, wrote to manufacturers, described the situation.

    Response letter

    The answer was positive. Yes, they say use, non-toxic glue. Most importantly, just do not eat it. Nevertheless, I decided that the best risk management strategy is avoidance, and I did not stick the teapot. But then I found out that Bondic is not poisonous.

    Comparison with other glue

    Luxtools

    I tried to compare Bondic with these guys . As a result, the skirting board using Luxtools could not be glued, it did not catch at all. Since everything was already re-glued at home, I decided to try it on matches. There were no problems with matches. Both Bondic and Luxtools glued one another to cheer. However, it is worth noting the following:
    • Luxtools smells awful. Straight, like ordinary highly toxic glue;
    • It is necessary to shine a lamp much longer. About 10 seconds versus 3 seconds of Bondik;
    • The lamp design is not very convenient. The batteries cannot be replaced and you may not notice that you did not turn off the lamp. It just happened to me. Matches already glued with a lamp from Bondik.

    Glued matches
    I wanted to load the place of gluing, but decided that the conditions were too unlaboratory and it would hardly be possible to objectively judge the results.

    Matchstick man

    Super glue

    Usually, when I needed to stick something, I bought super-glue. Naturally, it would be appropriate to compare Bondic, including with it. As a result, they could not stick the baseboard to the iron door frame. He coped with the base of the lamp with a bang.
    The corner to the skirting board of the apron in the kitchen was sealed with one with a bond, the other with super glue. Both hold tight.

    However, it is worth noting that the scope of Bondic'a and superglue is different. Plus - the canopy is not sticky, and working with it is much more pleasant.

    What is the result

    The product undoubtedly deserves attention, especially for the repair of various plastic products. He coped with all my homework, as he holds tight, time will tell. The shortcomings listed above can hardly be called serious, everything is easily fixed, but the advantages are obvious!

    Let's fantasize

    The Dadget Bondic website is called Light Curing Plastic. On the manufacturer’s website, Bondic is given the following definition of “liquid plastic welder”, which literally can be translated as “liquid plastic welder”. You can also use "light curing glue." This definition is at least googled. But all these options are some kind of non-native and non-obvious. I propose to come up with some kind of mass name for such a type of adhesives as the well-known "epoxy". For example, “non-sticky glue”, “welding glue” or something like that. If you have thoughts and ideas, I would be happy about the options!

    PS You can buy Bondic in the Dadget store .
