Intel® Atom ™ DEXP Tablets Overview: Windows and Android Models

The products of the Russian company DEXP are famous among users of mobile devices for more than ten Ixion smartphones with powerful batteries (a line, for a moment, unique to the market and one of a kind). But this is not the whole range of devices produced by the vendor. Not the first year in the DEXP have been developing the tablet segment. The company offers devices of this class both based on Android and running Windows. In this review, we've brought together four DEXP models on Intel® Atom ™ processors with x86 architecture, which equally cope with both the platform from Google and the operating system from Microsoft.

    DEXP Ursus 7W

Due to its light weight and very modest dimensions, this tablet has much more similarities with smartphones than with devices of its class. The DEXP Ursus 7W is ergonomic, and with it, like with a smart, it’s convenient to control, even if you hold the gadget with one hand.

Wide viewing angles of the 7-inch IPS-display allow you to comfortably view videos, read and work in Windows-based applications. The operating system version 8.1 is preinstalled, plus there is the possibility of a free upgrade to Windows 10. There is an annual subscription for Office 365 and a complete OTG cable. The latter is a rarity for budget models, which include the hero of the review.

The body of the device is snap. It is made of plastic, with pressure and strong compression it can creak a little. Like all devices on Windows, the tablet is quite convenient for working in office applications, familiar to laptops.

The back wall of the case is made of soft-touch plastic. Unfortunately, it is quite easily soiled and retains fingerprints after use. The build quality is good, but not excellent: due to the medium hardness materials used in the construction of the case, the apparatus can be twisted.

The DEXP Ursus 7W is powered by a 1.83 GHz quad-core Intel® Atom ™ Z3735F processor and handles typical usage scenarios like surfing the web and watching videos. Yes, and you can even play this “baby” - there will be enough resources even for some Half-Life 2.

    Cost: 4,390 rubles.

    DEXP Ursus KX110

The 10.1-inch screen of the device and its entire front panel are protected by thick glass. This tablet is interesting by the presence of a removable keyboard with a touchpad, which is part of a protective case. The "periphery" is made of plastic, and at first you will have to adapt to it: traditional laptop keyboards are nevertheless more convenient. The key travel is clear. Thanks to the cover, you can fix the DEXP Ursus KX110 in landscape orientation for greater convenience when working or watching videos.

IPS-screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels pleases with juicy and bright color reproduction, without significant distortion. The factory brightness settings are quite comfortable for handling the device.

Like the DEXP Ursus 7W, this tablet received a quad-core Intel® Atom ™ Z3735F with a frequency of 1.83 GHz. At the same time, the DEXP Ursus KX110 provides a 3G modem. Unlike the budget "kindred", DEXP Ursus KX110 works even faster: it runs under Windows 10 (this is one of the first tablets in Russia with a pre-installed "ten") and has large amounts of memory. Office 365 annual membership and Intel® school benefits are also supported. The latter should be understood as Intel® Education Resources. It is intended primarily for schoolchildren. Intel® Education Resources includes benefits from Fisicon for grades 5-11, there are also 6 products from the New Disc, namely Primer, Learn to Speak Correctly, World War II, World of Music , "The ABC of Art" and "Fantazery".

    Cost: 13,490 rubles.

    DEXP Ursus Z110 Apollo

Another Windows gadget with a screen diagonal of 10.1 inches is also equipped with a cover-keyboard that brings the DEXP Ursus Z110 Apollo tablet with ultrabook closer in functionality. The front panel is protected by a thin glass that adequately performs the assigned function: the network of scratches is not collected and does not make it difficult to review the information on the display after a week of heavy use.

The device’s power is sufficient not only for a standard user entertainment set (modern games, video in HD, surfing, reading and listening to audio), but also for solving creative tasks. For example, on this tablet, based on the 4-core Intel® Atom ™ Z3735E, it is quite possible to install a powerful photo editor.

The user is invited to work on Windows 8.1 with the ability to upgrade the operating system to Windows 10.

The DEXP Ursus Z110 Apollo weighs 626 grams: about the same as tablets from competing brands with the same (or even smaller) diagonal.

A battery with a capacity of 9,000 mAh allows the device to cheerfully stand one, or even several working days: depending on the brightness and intensity of access to the tablet selected by the user.

    Cost: 13990 rubles.

    DEXP Ursus TS197 Navis

And here is the Android tablet based on Intel® Atom ™, namely the Z3735F. A curious bunch, which, however, does not give any negative write for thought during operation. The 4-core Intel® Atom ™ Processor Z3735F with a total of 2 gigabytes of RAM provides a very decent performance, which is more than enough for many current applications.

Unlike most of the tablets available on Android, DEXP Ursus TS197 Navis has a fresh version of this operating system: 5.0 Lollipop. In addition, he can rightfully be proud of a 5-megapixel camera, which, again, unlike most tablet counterparts, allows you to take non-blurred pictures.

The 9.7-inch display on the IPS-matrix gives a wide and realistic color gamut, without distortion of the picture when tilting and rotating the tablet.

The capacity of a non-removable battery is enough to not recharge the tablet for several days. The case of the gadget is made of black plastic, pleasant to the touch. The device itself is massive and rather heavy: it weighs 530 grams.

    Cost: 11 690 rubles.
