When I got a SJCam cube in my hands, I experienced that forgotten feeling that I had when I first met the GoPro camera. I think the main factors were visual and tactile sensations. SJCam M10 has a nice rough surface (the same as on the GoPro), and the shape and size are visually very pleasing. But I think that the most pleasant surprise was a screen with a very clear control interface, where in just 10 minutes I already knew how to shoot video, photos, where to change formats, how to enable TimeLapse mode and even how to use this camera instead of a regular laptop webcam . Acquaintance was just beginning, and the mood was already very positive.

The very first weekend we went to soak up the lake near Moscow, where I gladly took the SJCam M10 for full use.
It was planned to use for three things:
1. Creating a TimeLapse video (my favorite format)
2. Flying on a quadrocopter
3. Shooting a video as an auto-recorder (at the same time, evaluate the video quality)
Before I start telling and showing what I got to do - I want to tell you a little about the camera itself, about its capabilities and characteristic features.
1. The camera is equipped with a 1.5-inch screen where you can work with functions, view photos and videos, and also use it as a viewfinder, that is, now you don’t have to shoot at random what you want to shoot.
2. She can record video on a MicroCD card with a capacity of up to 32GB, I use grade 10 and do not recommend less for shooting video, since grade 4-6 may not have enough recording speed. But the manufacturer writes that from 4 - you can use.
3. The complete set of the camera will not please only a real hater, here you will find a waterproof case, a spare cover for it, and a ton of various Velcro and fasteners. In general, in the style of SJCAM - for any occasion in life.
4. Video resolution: 1080P (1920 x 1080) and 720P (1280 x 720)
5. Frame rate up to 60 fps, of course only when shooting in 720P
6. There is an interface for outputting video via HDMI
7. Viewing angle of 170 degrees
8. Photos can take 12mp (4032 x 3024), 10mp (3648 x 2736), 8mp (3264 x 2448), 5mp (2592 x 1944)

Maybe I’m a bit behind the times , but in this camera I first met a format such as TimeLapse automatically glued together, that is, if I want to get such a video, I just choose the frequency with which to take photos and the camera renders on the fly This is a finished movie. I made a few lapses and glued them together to show possible quality without post-processing.
Recording these videos, the camera took 1 time in 2 seconds, then she glued it together and immediately showed the result. Personally, I was very pleased with the quality, I will continue to make laps with it.
2. Flying on a quadrocopter
Given the low cost of the camera and its low weight - I wanted to choose the same budget quadrocopter that could fly with it. It is clear that DJI Phantom and Cheerson CX-20 would have raised it without difficulty, but the most budget option was Syma X8W , the cost of which is 2 times less than its closest competitors.
Replacing the full-time camera with the M10, the quadrocopter went flying.
Naturally, the quadrocopter began to move a little harder, however, the control accuracy remained and the wind that was on that day, the quadrocopter also resisted quite easily. I did not raise it as high as possible, because there was wind and the terrain was not suitable, but in the near future I will try to test this bunch and at extreme distances.
In any case, we can conclude that the bunch turned out to be quite successful. The jelly effect is not observed at altitude and in the wind, the picture quality is very decent and the strength of the quadrocopter is enough to fly with such a load.
The price of the kit turned out: $ 133.99 for Syma X8W + $ 78.59 for SjCam M10 3. Car DVR
A small cube in the car will be especially appropriate, so I'm glad that the manufacturer took into account such daily benefits from it. The camera has the ability to overwrite the video on top of the already recorded, that is, work in the mode of a conventional DVR. And with a 32 gig card, very old material will be erased.
I propose to evaluate the video quality on the road using this video, however, it is worth considering that I did not fix the camera, but simply put it on the panel in the direction of the road.
However, there is a fly in the ointment - I did not fix it because there was no Velcro on the glass in the extensive list of components, but the good news is that it can be ordered optionally for $ 2 .
I think it was already clear from the headline that on the whole this camera pleased me. It really is enough for all domestic needs. We take time-lapses, take a photo, use it as a DVR, swim with it under water, fly on a quadrocopter and shoot for as long as 90 minutes on 1 battery. To all this, a very affordable price is added and a very nice gadget for every day is obtained.
The new form factor was not only not upset, but also pleased with its compactness, especially considering that a good screen was put in it by some miracle. For the car recorder, the screen and the cube shape will work very well. Personally, I plan to wait for the mount and put the M10 in my car so that you always have a good camera at hand.
