Progress successfully delivered cargo to the ISS

The Progress M-28M space truck was able to successfully dock to the ISS, delivering 2.4 tons of payload to the station. Among other things delivered to the ISS are food, fuel, water, oxygen. It is worth noting that the two previous launches, Progress M-27M and Dragon ended in failure.

The docking with the Pirs compartment took place today, at 10:11 Moscow time. The operation was fully automatic.

It is interesting that the launch was carried out using the traditional Soyuz-U carrier, which was first launched back in 1973. In addition, the ISS achievement chart was changed. As a one-time check, the specialists decided to use the two-day scheme for reaching the ISS instead of the fast one, which allows docking in 6-8 hours.

The cargo delivered to the ISS is quite standard: 880 kg of fuel, 520 kg of fuel for refueling, 22 kg of oxygen, 26 kg of air, 420 kg of water and 430 kg of food and utensils.

In the same month, the ISS crew, now consisting of three astronauts, should be supplemented by up to six people. This will happen on July 23rd.
