Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe will pay $ 415 million in antitrust cases

The Reuters published an interesting news. The four largest technology corporations: Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe will pay $ 415 million in antitrust compensation. The essence of the proceedings is a collective complaint of employees and ex-employees of these enterprises, who complained about the conspiracy of companies regarding the prohibition of switching to work in competing firms. In addition, the companies, according to the employees who filed the lawsuit, secretly agreed that they would not lure employees from each other.

The initial amount requested in the class action lawsuit was $ 3 billion. Last year, companies offered $ 324 million in compensation, but U.S. District Judge Lucy Co rejected the offer. According to the judge, the amount of compensation was clearly insufficient. Moreover, in the event of a formal court decision in the case in favor of the plaintiffs, the companies could be obliged to pay up to 9 billion US dollars .

Now an amicable settlement has been reached, according to which the plaintiffs receive 415 million US dollars (for all).

It is worth noting that the correspondence between Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs appeared in the proceedings. Steve Jobs complained to Schmidt about an attempt to lure an Apple employee to Google by a staff member. And Schmidt, in response to this letter, promised to fire the employee of the human resources department of Google, who intended to lure an employee of Apple.
