SpaceX introduced the official video landing the Falcon 9 stage on the offshore platform

Last week, SpaceX was able to land a Falcon 9 rocket stage for the second time on an offshore platform, after launching the rocket itself and launching a 5,000-ton JCSAT 14 communications satellite into Earth’s orbit with an altitude of 35,000 km. Due to the fact that the rocket had to fly higher than before, there was much less fuel left to land than in previous cases. But the company's specialists coped with this task, and the return stage sat on the offshore platform without any problems.

Previously, the company published several photos and videos from a distant shooting position, now it’s now recording a rocket landing from three different angles, in high quality and at close range. Let me remind you that from half to two-thirds of launches, according to company representatives, will end with the landing of the first stage on an offshore platform, and not on land.

In addition to the video, there are photos, the company published them in its Flickr account .

As for the previous launch, the satellite also occupied the calculated orbit, so both missions - both launching the cargo into the previously planned orbit and the return of the stage - were successful. This is a very important step for the company, as it plans to reuse the Falcon 9 stage, reducing the cost of startup. And the success that we managed to repeat indicates that the process of returning and landing the spent spacecraft stage is already well debugged.
