Linux developer Anthony Norman continues to rage

Intellectual Property Infringement. This universal pretext is used not only in the struggle of corporations or to suppress competitors, but even in personal disassembly of Linux developers.

Over the years, Anthony Norman has been a helpful member of the Linux community. He remains the main developer of Pinguy OS (fork of Ubuntu) and has been an active contributor to the Cup of Linux project (another Linux distribution). In turn, the Cup of Linux developers often mentioned Norman and the new Pinguy OS releases in their Spatry video podcast on YouTube. It would seem that all is well.

But a couple of weeks ago , the first problems arose.. It all started with the fact that the “Pinguy“ user was banned for 3 months on the cupoflinux.com forum for “several cases of poor behavior under the influence of [alcohol]”.

Norman did not accept and gave an asymmetric answer. Soon, Spatry received a letter from the administration of YouTube with a message about copyright infringement.

An application to block videos in the Spatry podcast has been submitted on behalf of Anthony Norman. He demands the removal of videos mentioning Pinguy OS on the grounds that he owns the trademark for this product.

These videos are more likely Pinguy OS ads, so a complaint can only be regarded as an act of personal revenge.

Spatry had no choice but to delete the videos. I had to remove 29 pieces - all that mentioned Pinguy OS. Solved at the same timeerase all Norman messages from cupoflinux.com forums, and the ban term has been changed from 3 months to lifetime. In general, the developers quarreled completely.

This would be the end of the story, but Norman continues to behave inappropriately. After the story came out on Techdirt’s website, he threatened to prosecute “publishing personal data,” namely his email address. He was reasonably told that this address is available in GoDaddy's registry entries. Norman edited the notes and said that he would pass on the information to his lawyer.

Of course, you can only sympathize with the Linux developer who was involved in such a story, got unpleasant fame and a lifetime ban on the forum. He should probably limit his beer consumption.
