From 0 to 100 km / h in just 1,785 seconds on the Grimsel electric car

A combined team of students from the University of Applied Sciences of Lucerne (Switzerland) and ETX Zurich (Switzerland) created a high-speed electric car, which set a new speed record. From 0 to 100 kilometers per hour, this electric car, called the Grimsel, accelerated in just 1,785 seconds.

The previous record was 100 km / h in 2.134 seconds, and it was set by an electric car of the Delft University of Technology team in 2013.

The set record is now being ratified by the Commission of the Book of Records.

Development lasted about 12 months. The team includes 30 students of the above educational institutions. The case is made of carbon fiber, and its mass is only 168 kilograms. Wheel disks are also made of carbon fiber, tires have a width of 190 mm. Electric motor power - 200 horsepower, which is pretty decent. Rather, there are only four motors for each of the wheels. The power of each of the motors is 50 horsepower, with a torque transmission of 1630 Nm to the wheels of an electric vehicle.

    Grimsel Virtual Assembly

It is worth noting that Grimsel needs an electronic traction control system with job tracking and control of each of the motors. This will further improve performance.

The electric car was created for a reason, it was developed as part of the international competition Formula Student. More than 500 teams participated in this competition, and the Grimsel team (the name of the team is AMZ) became the winner. The team scored 920 out of 1000 points.
