Scientists managed to reduce the speed of light to 20 km / h

As you know, nothing can move faster than light. In any case, modern science believes so. But it turns out that the light itself can be slowed down by reducing the speed of light to an indecently small value of 20 kilometers per hour.

It sounds unusual, but true. Moreover, the decrease in the speed of light is not a theory; scientists were able to do this in practice. Harvard University experts were able to slow down the speed of light to 20 km / h using a supercooled medium known as Bose-Einstein condensate.

Such condensate is formed when the temperature is reached, only a billionths of a degree above absolute zero.

It is worth noting that this is not the first such experience - earlier specialists were able to brake the light to a speed of 61 kilometers per hour. And now, experts not only slowed the passage of light through space, but at one moment completely stopped it, turning the wave into matter. According to scientists, in this state, the light can literally be "put on the shelf" as an exhibit.
