Productronica 2015
Once every 2 years, in Munich, there is an exhibition called Productronica. This exhibition is everything that has gone from an idea to implementation, from unique solutions to simple (and not so) equipment in the field of microelectronics. I was surprised that in November I did not see any, even the most brief review on this topic on Habré and GT. Well, I'll try to fill this gap. There will not be much technical component here - a very diverse and large exhibition - only a superficial overview. In fact, I was surprisingly lucky at this exhibition - I was there not just as a participant, but as an organizer.

About what was going on there, what I managed to see there, and how it was - under the cut.
For me, it all started a little earlier, about two weeks before the exhibition. I received a letter from the management stating that my presence there was highly desirable. In addition, instructions were attached to the letter, in pages, probably, at 10, where it was written who, what, when, what will be busy. Those. banal, everything is painted: who arrives at what time, who goes with whom, what day what type of clothing should be, an event program that is limited not only to the exhibition itself.
I am still surprised that I spent several days in Munich, but did not look at the historical center of the city. Of course, it all started with the fact that a stand was set up. About this stage I will not tell anything, because I did not find it. In Germany, turnkey service is often practiced - equipment logistics, unloading and unloading, installation on a stand, and then, on the contrary, packaging, loading and sending to the manufacturer - all this was done by one logistics company.
Then there was the installation of equipment. Something was setting up, something was being insisted on, something was unpacking, in general, the normal working environment.
In the evening there was a meeting, they briefly described to us what will be changed, what are our expectations from the exhibition, for sweets - distribution of passes.
The exhibition opened for visitors at 9-00. For organizers an hour earlier. I saw this on the first day, and there were no more such moments:

This day was the most unloaded, and I had free time to walk around the stands. I decided to start with the most interesting questions - soldering materials. I visited the Senju Metal stands (It’s a pity that Japanese companies now deliver almost nothing to the Russian Federation) the fluxes of these guys are really nothing.
A few words spread with representatives of Alpha Metal, did not forget about Heraeus and Henkel. The history of the selection of solder materials is quite specific, depending on the application technology, functional group and product characteristics. I was interested in the choice for OSP coverage, and had a good idea of what I was looking for.

The second point I had installations for x-ray control. Here I am not strong in topics, so I turned to my colleagues and their recommendations. I looked at the Sheetah from YXLON, did not go past the YAMAHA stand, and indeed, looked at the control and inspection systems.

And I didn’t forget about the acoustic microscope:

At that time all kinds of lectures, discussions and meetings were going on - anyone could come to listen. My choice is SMT.

This ended my free time, I went to my stand, along the way I just looked to look at the equipment of competitors. And in the evening, when the exhibition closes for visitors, you can relax a bit, find out something interesting, ask around for interesting requests (for example, one of the visitors asked if we could tell you something about condensation soldering in acid), and generally drink beer - Germany is the same.
On the second day there were much more people, and much less free time. But it all started extremely positively. At the meeting, we were told that on the first day we won one of five awards, Winner SMT Cluster for the Reel-to-Reel system. I will not describe what is innovative in it, because it can be developed into a separate topic.
Just a week before, I jumped into my friend - a service engineer - to work. We discussed the organization of the workspace. So, I just could not help but pay attention:

And again I walked around the stands a bit. Some were simply surprised.

We must pay tribute to ASM, probably the largest stand, various equipment, and a lot of visitors.

At that moment, I did not know that ASM would give me another gift. Closer to closing, I was given an invitation to a private event from ASM.
Venue - Allianz Arena stadium, the number of guests - about 1000. In general, it is very fun. Of the bonuses - a tour of the stadium, various drinks and traditional dishes of Bavaria, and this, not counting the entertainment program.
This was my last day at the exhibition. And the most interesting. Yes, there were a lot of people, yes, for three days I did not go around everything.
But it was secondary, but the main meeting was organized in the afternoon. There is such a technique of “voice of the customer”, the essence of which is quite simple, and the implementation, as a rule, is lame. Up to this point, I just read about this technique. And then I managed to participate live. A room was rented to which various technical specialists were invited - customers dealing with soldering, non-standard tasks, and keeping their finger on the pulse. For our part, there were several speakers who told us about what we, in fact, have been doing lately. Then the professor came out and began to communicate with the customer. In essence, he set people up for dialogue, during which I heard many interesting and non-trivial tasks. In this case, the implementation of the technique was excellent, we even heard as some see the development of an industry where you can move. There were questions about quickly switching recipes; there were questions about different soldering profiles on the bottom and top of the circuit board. There were more interesting ideas, but they, for obvious reasons, will not be described here.
