Antidote - TOX client for iOS has finally become available

    image

A significant security event took place a couple of weeks ago - the release of the Antidote client for mobile devices from Apple.

How this happened and what prospects - we will consider in a post.
What is interesting is the author of this application dvor (so that in essence it is also a high-quality import substitution)

Tox is a protocol for secure messaging that does not compromise on its advantages:

    1) Encryption is always used for everything
    2) Encryption End2End (compared to telegrams)
    3) You do not need to specify a phone number for registration (and generally the concept of registration absent)
    4) The Tox network is completely distributed and there is no central server in it
    5) The source code of the kernel and client is open

I have been following this client for a long time - this is the first client for the TOX network for iOS. And moving towards iOS is another platform on which Tox is available.

    Functionality

    The following functions are implemented:
    - Chat
    - Audio calls
    - Video calls
    - File transfer
    What is missing so far:
    - Group chat
    - Offline messages

    App Store
    Github

    Client for OS X

If you want to write a client for OS X this can be done on swift using a ready-made library, contact the Antidote author for this:
In principle, for macOS you need to write only the UI, the entire business logic in a cross-platform library .

If you want to hang out on Swift - write to [email protected]

Only registered users can participate in the survey. Please come in.

What keeps you from switching to Tox?

    • 47.2% Lack of offline messages 77
    • 23.9% Lack of group chats 39
    • 3.6% Lack of auto-search for contacts by phone number 6
    • 25.1% Lack of another function that exists in competitors (WhatsApp / Telegram / etc) 41

Would you switch to TOX if its functionality was similar to WhatsApp / Telegram?

    • 90.1% Yes, I do not want to depend on the central server / closed source code 202
    • 9.8% No, I do not care about the security problems of instant messengers 22
