Sometimes it starts to seem to me that the information technology industry is the most stagnant and conservative in our country. See for yourself, since the time of Brezhnev’s eyebrows, thousands of new medicines and treatment methods, hundreds of new educational programs and pedagogical methods, dozens of building materials, several new types of fuel have appeared in the world - and what has changed in RuNet? Yes, new technologies come, but the approach itself remains the same: first photoshop, icons, licking pixels, cookies, a macbook, slicing layouts and a beautiful portfolio without measurable indicators of business improvement. The only change in the past 15 years is the advent of flat design instead of skeuomorphism and caramel. Here is a revolution and a change of eras!

Of course, the most advanced speakers have long realized that the format of dull reports (for a short time, about 40 minutes) must be diluted with fun, jokes and even fascinating truthful stories from life. People paid money, took the time of their only lives from customers, from families, from raising their own children - for the sake of knowing this. As usual, my texts are not just a collection of criticisms of existing decrepit orders, but also a set of concrete proposals for correction and improvement. And here again pedagogy comes to our aid.

It is clear that the information technology industry itself is very young and step by step must go through all the stages of an ordinary child from birth to growing up and gaining independence. I propose to recognize the era of childish incoherent babble complete (when any child simply enjoys what can orally extract various sounds from himself, attract the attention of parents and sometimes even accidentally combine entertaining phrases, see the video above) and move on to the age of “I myself” . This period means that the baby is more and more interested in real human activity and will certainly want to take off his sandals himself, knock on his father’s hammer, spray his mother’s cologne, dissolve grandmother’s knitting, etc. So a young creature (and a young industry) gradually get acquainted with adult problems, needs, skills, try themselves in the role of various characters, etc. I emphasize once again that all this activity for the child (and for the IT industry) is much more complicated than just cute agonizing and gurgling to the joy of mom.

How can such a period of growing an industry look in practice? This is when, instead of comfortable hotels and conference rooms, industry experts come directly to the customer’s workplace in the Novouralsk First Pipe Plant, the Kemerovo Coke and Ferrometallurgical Plant or in the port of Nakhodka and, having broken into teams, under the obligatory supervision of adults, really try their hand as characters at those sites who then plan to automate and virtualize.

Although why only the existing large enterprises? Would it be less useful for a quality startup to get a brainstorming session from dozens of leading industry experts, and in many areas at once, from marketing to cloud storage? And such an important help and support at the initial stage, the startup gets in exchange for a paid vacation of a fun party in the framework of one weekend.

So, for any customer, all this just looks like the most needed, effective and realistic tender under his strict supervision: 3 teams of logo makers under the guidance of a professor of heraldry, 8 teams for back-end warehouse operations and 15 rival teams of interface makers under strict Deputy Supervision of technical processes.

The winning team receives an order, and the losers get enormous real experience, new management and interaction technologies within the scrum teams, and new connections too, as it is much easier to get to know each other during an active competition than to lazily sit in the chairs between lectures.

At the same time, it will be easy to practice new methods of team management in practice - this is where expanse is for practitioners of scrum, kanban and other adjayl. Here, new talented executives and managers will grow like mushrooms, in real battle they have shown their remarkable skills in mobilizing a motley unfamiliar team for a high-quality solution to an operational task.

I anticipate the objection that it would be unprofitable for many top studios to send their representatives to such “practical tenders”, because they will not be able to receive the whole tasty and expensive order as a whole, but only a small piece on the brand book or vice versa on the optimal coordination of the project with the customer’s 1C system . And, they say, this is so bad.

Not at all. On the contrary, it will be good and it will be progressive. As you all already know, few theoreticians will have the courage to try their own knowledge in practice, precisely because it destroys the entire familiar way of life. Many people really feel scared at the mere thought that organized, well-established teams are long outdated and the era of free radical experts has come, who, within the framework of one two-project, get together in groups, solve practical problems, and then again disperse around the area. Isn't that the perfect dream of any scrum master?

Like it or not, but for the customer, this is the approach that is ideal in all respects. Why would he pay money to the entire web studio or Internet agency when he receives the required level of quality of services from only 1-2 specialists, and instead of the rest of the interns, the customer would like to hire a third-party expert specifically in transport interfaces and ergonomics of the route sheet taking into account the 12-hour shift operator. This is not in the studio, but it’s on the side, which means that any one-time team will be much more effective in each case for solving every real problem.

Having run such an idea on several real tenders with large customers and startups, the next step I would suggest to take on social and charity projects. And these parties will already look more like a vacation and fun leisure for colleagues in the industry, when the desire to win by all means and grab a solid jackpot from a future project no longer blinds.

Just imagine: Baikal, a bathhouse, snowmobiles, swimming in an ice hole, a nightly hot ice cabaret, and, in passing, creating an application for an iPhone for deaf-mute children or a portal for single pensioners in a week, or maybe it will be a single network for searching for missing persons or a device for monitoring neighbors throwing garbage out of windows. They piled together and did it, alternating socially useful work for the benefit of the whole society and personal active rest, all the same, after all, everyone came with laptops.

Fun, useful, on the courage, in pleasure, and following the results of such a workshop tender - so everyone will feel not today's devastation after the next RIW, but the benefit of their stay on sinful earth, though not for long.
