Telecom regulator Ofcom conducted a survey among the British, showing that the smartphone is the most popular device for accessing the Internet in the UK. In second place are laptops, with a share of 30%, according to Vedomosti. In a similar survey last year, laptops came first, and smartphones came second.

The UK government is now trying to work with mobile operators to provide coverage for areas with underdeveloped telecommunications infrastructure. Until 2017, telecom operators and the government will invest about 5 billion pounds in the development of such infrastructure.

The Briton spends about £ 2,000 on online purchases per year, which is higher than other countries. On the Internet, an average user from Britain spends about two hours a day on the Internet. This is two-thirds more than a laptop user. Making calls, working with SMS and e-mail accounts for about 3/4 of the total time working with mobile devices. The rest is games, reading and web surfing.

About a third of Ofcom's smartphone users surveyed turn on their devices within the first five minutes of their rise. Another quarter of respondents do the same for the last five minutes before going to bed.

Despite the popularity of smartphones, the most popular entertainment tool for the British is TV. On average, a resident of the country spends about 3 hours 40 minutes a day watching TV.
